How to Make Your Senior Photos Unique
Deciding what you want to do for your senior photos can be hard, I get it! That’s where I come in! I’ll help you bring your dream session to life and give you ideas of what to do! Your senior photos are all about you, so they should showcase YOU! Sometimes it’s hard not to get pulled into trends or following what your friends are doing. So, here are 5 things to help make your senior photos unique!
1. Location
Choosing a location that is special to you is an easy way to make your senior pictures different than everyone else’s! Think about where you like to spend most of your time. Do you like to walk around downtown? Or go for walks through beautiful scenery? Do you love playing soccer? All of these things can play a role in where you take your senior photos! If you play sports, consider doing some of your photos on your soccer field, football field, volleyball court, etc. If you love the city, we can take some photos downtown Rochester, Lake Orion, Clarkston, or even Detroit! Whatever city you love, we can go there! We can also frolic through gorgeous scenery together to create some beautiful photos! Wherever you love spending your time is specific and meaningful to you so take that into consideration that when choosing a location! If you’re stuck on choosing a location, I have a ton that I can recommend!
2. Outfit Choice
Everyone has a different sense of style so following your true fashion taste will definitely lead to senior photos that scream you! Some people love bold patterns, whole some people love plain shirts. Whatever you prefer to wear, WEAR IT! Don’t let anyone control what you choose to wear because then your photos won’t truly show who you are. Try on different outfits and choose whatever makes you feel the most comfortable. I always recommend a dressy option and a casual outfit. Do you love being barefoot? Skip out on shoes and go barefoot for your casual outfit! You can do SO much with your outfits and accessories to show who you really are! I think that personalities tend to show through clothing choices, so wear exactly what you love to wear! Don’t overthink it too much. Wear what you feel best in!
3. Props
Brining props along to your session will help showcase your hobbies and personality. Props will ensure that your photos truly represent you! If you love painting, you can bring along an easel and do a little painting! If you love to read, bring some of your favorite books! If you play a sport, bring your jersey or sport equipment! Props are such a fun thing to incorporate into your photos and everyone has different hobbies, so you should show off yours!
4. Pets
Okay, who doesn’t love a cute picture with their adorable pet?! I absolutely LOVE animals and I know that your pets are so important in your life! They’re part of your family so I think everyone should include them in their senior photos! Including your pet makes your senior pictures even more special to you! Whether you have a dog, a cat, a turtle, whatever your pet may be, bring them along!
5. Posing
I know, this can be scary! I get a lot of “I don’t know how to pose myself…” emails and let me just say, 99% of people are worried about posing themselves as well! Well guess what! At our session, you won’t ever have to pose yourself all on your own! I will give you clear instructions on how to pose and I’ll even pose with you! I take your personality into consideration and I always watch your natural mannerisms (I promise I’m not a creep, I just want to emphasize who you naturally are haha) so your posing will be specific to your personality! Posing is a great way to show off your personality in photos!
These 5 things will ensure that you have senior pictures that are unique and truly show off your personality! I will help you every step of the way to determine what location(s) you want to use, what outfits to wear, what to bring, and how to pose! I want you to have senior photos that you have always dreamed of, all while having a great time!
